Who are they trying to kid?
As I watch the Democratic Convention, where the people who want to be somebody get up and preach to the already converted, it strikes me, just how dumb to they think we are? Warner, the rising star of the party, talked about how the Bush administration took over the strongest economy in history and ran it in to the ground. Wait a minute, I was here then. Weren't you? Reality was that the bubble had burst and the economy needed an immediate shot in the arm. How else do you explain that Bush was able to get the first tax rebate passed? I remember some of the Democrats at the time complaining that it wasn't enough. I watched Warner talk about Bush / Cheney being in big oils pocket. Let's get real, the best friends the oil companies have are Pelosi, Obama and Clinton. They don't have to drill, invest, research or anything else to make record profits. Just let the 'no-drilling' triumvirate strangle the supply so the prices go up. No drilling, no coal, no nuclear power. They want to let you die economically until technologies that can't fill the need may or may not mature. There is no one on earth who wants a nice affordable 300 mile range electric car than me. Sorry gang of three, it's not out there yet. Won't be for 10-20 years. How high does gas need to go before you guys open your eyes? Hydrogen? Show me how you separate the hydrogen from the oxygen without burning massive amounts of coal or nukes and then we can talk about it. Remember, we can't have those. Solar? Possible, if you're willing to put a few hundred thousand square miles of the west under solar panels. Wind? Please, do the math. We need to drill to fill the gap until another solution rises to the top. Bio-fuel? That'll be a rant for another day, but we'll get to that.
I'm sure the Republican Convention will have it's own issues, but it's the Democrats that have an existing administration to attack. Makes it easy on them, it's easier to tear down than build. For a party that is running on change and hope I see damn little building going on in Denver.
